Digital Tools Used
My school if fortunate to have a variety of technological tools in each classroom. In my kindergarten classroom I have five iPads, 5 iTouches, and a Smartboard. For this project, I promodiently used iPads since they are easy for kids to operate. I have listed some of the apps below that I incorporated into my writing lessons to help students build a sense of story.
Educreations: This app allows students to take pictures of their work and voice record the text that goes along. Also students can use the drawing tool to either create a picture or point out different features in a photograph. For my advance students, they were able to type the text that goes along with their story. All of the final products can be emailed to someone.

Quickvoice Recorder: This app provides students the opportunity to record themselves and play back their recording. I used this app to help students in the planning process so that they could verbally record their ideas and then play them back as they were writing.
Voicethread: This app is similar to Educreations in the sense that they both allow users to take pictures and record themselves. Also they both have a drawing and typing tool. This app was predominantly used during the publishing phase of writing.
Skitch: This app allows users to take photos and create text on top of the photo or record information about the photo. I used this app to help students peer edit. Students would provide comments on their friends work and then the writer could listen to the feedback.
Pic Collage: This app allows students to make a collage of pictures. I used this in other content areas such as science as a formative assessment.
Videolicious: This easy to use app allows users to create a video by uploading pictures. Users can record their voice as the pictures are streamed together to make a movie.
There are many other technological tools and apps that could be used to help students develop their story. I chose to focus on just a few apps with my kindergarteners so that they could learn to use them independently.
